Guitars Sold by Grim Music Service

They're gone, and no, we can't tell you who bought them.

1960s Gibson EB-O Bass

Made in the USA.

1975 Gibson L6-S Midnight Special

Made in the USA.

A word of warning. The L6-S Midnight Special is a bolt neck guitar, with strings through the body. It has Bill Lawrence designed pickups, one volume, one tone control, and a 3 position selector switch.

It is NOT an L6-S, later renamed the L6-S Custom. That guitar has a set neck, tune-o-matic bridge, a stop tail piece, one volume control, and two tone controls, and a 6 position selector knob. The L6-S, and the L6-S Custom, are worth more than the L6-S Midnight Special.

There is also an L6-S Deluxe. The Deluxe has black plastic pickup covers, one tone and one volume control, a 3 position selector switch, strings through the body, and a rosewood fret board.

1979 Peavey T-60                                        no photo

Made in the USA.

A very heavy guitar, but balanced. We believe it was made of ash. Maple fret board. Two humbucking pickups with very weird electronics. Visit Peavey's website for the manual. It came with a massive plastic hard shell case.

1983 O'Hagan Nightwatch

Made in USA.

A very heavy guitar. Made of walnut. Neck through, very light action, great sustain. We had problems with the wrap-around bridge. There is an O'Hagan Guitar website run by a fan of these guitars.

1989 Charvel Charvette

Made in Japan.

Plywood body. Charvel pickups. Later Charvettes were made in Korea.

1990s Hamer Sunburst Arch top

Made in Korea.

A very heavy guitar. Mahogany body. Maple cap. A nice looking guitar ruined by muddy sounding pickups.

1991 Gibson Explorer '76 Reissue

Made in the USA.

1993 Guild S4CE-NT (Songbird)

Made in the USA.

This thin bodied acoustic/electric guitar is neck heavy.

1995 Epiphone Sheraton

Made in Korea.

Semi-hollow body. Another guitar ruined by muddy sounding pickups.

1995  Epiphone LP Special

Made in Korea.

1997 Gibson Les Paul Studio Gem

Made in USA.

A Studio with P-90 single coils. There were five different gem stone colors.

1997 Gibson The Paul II

Made in USA.

It looks like a Les Paul, but it's only 1/3 as thick. Mahogany body, with carved mahogany top. Two uncovered humbucking pickups, two volume, two tone controls, three position pickup selector switch, rosewood finger board with dot inlays, 59 style neck.

1998 Squire Bronco Bass

Made in Indonesia.

1999 Epiphone Viola Bass

Made in Korea.

2000 Epiphone SG Special

Made in Korea.

2000 Gibson Les Paul Special SL

Made in USA.

SLs had a UV cured poly, not lacquer. Mahogany body. Rosewood fret board with small trapezoid inlays. SLs are worth less than regular Les Paul Specials.

2001 Ibanez AX-220 QMB

Made in Korea.

This electric guitar is neck heavy. Bolt on neck, strings through the body. Very light mahogany body with quilted maple veneer top. Maple neck, rosewood fret board, dot inlays.

2001 Epiphone Poly V

Made in Korea.

2000's  Carlo Robelli   Acoustic/Electric

Made somewhere. We suspect the People's Republic of China. This guitar also had no serial number.

2002 Gibson Flying V Faded

Made in the USA.

The first issue of this model had an ebony fret board with half moon inlays. The later model had a rosewood fret board with dot inlays.

2002 Washburn X10B                                      no photo

We don't remember much about it. It was brand new in the box, we got it for free, and within an hour it was on consignment in a different music store.

2002 Schecter Tribal Bass

Made in Korea.

This electric bass is neck heavy. We considered putting weights in the control cavity. We ended up deciding to just sell it.

2003 Gibson SG Special

Made in USA.

Gibson pick-up covers added to protect pick-ups.

2003 Epiphone Dot

Made in Korea.

Semi-hollow body. Muddy sounding pickups, but not as bad as the later P.R.C. made guitars.

2004 Washburn Rover

Made somewhere. We suspect the People's Republic of China. The gig bag is much larger than the guitar.

2004 Gibson Flying V Faded

Made in the USA.

This is the later model with the rosewood fret board with dot inlays.

2006 Art & Lutherie Ami Pro Parlor Guitar

Made in Canada.

2006 Wechter Maple Lake Travel Guitar              no photo.

Made in the People's Republic of China.

The piezo pickup under the bridge saddle was crispy to the point of pain.

2006?  Alvarez MSD-1 Travel Guitar

Made in the People's Republic of China.

Regular tuning despite the short scale length.  With Alvarez gig bag.

Unknown Year  Ovation Celebrity  CC-157

Made in Korea.

A previous owner filed the bridge saddle down, and made it impossible to adjust the action. We owned it two days before bringing it back. Yes, we could have replaced the saddle, but why?

Unknown Year   Ovation Applause AE-700                 no photo.

Made in Korea.

The piezo pickup under the bridge saddle was crispy to the point of pain.

Unknown Year   Oscar Schmidt OE-30 Delta King

Made either in Indonesia or the People's Republic of China. There's no country of manufacture listed on the label visible through the top f-hole.

Bolt neck. Semi-hollow body. 2 muddy sounding Washburn pickups. The guitar has good physical balance, though.

Unknown Year  Yamaha AEX500

Made in Taiwan.

This thin hollow body acoustic/electric guitar is neck heavy. One mini-humbucker, and a piezo pickup under the bridge saddle. The tone control is actually a blend control for the pickups. There is a three band graphic equalizer for the piezo pickup. After this photo was taken, we put the original smaller gold knobs back on.
